Introduction to Autonomous Robot

              Dear friends, as I promised you to publish on technical things. The topic of today is an Autonomous bot. The word autonomous itself suggest that it does work at its own, there is no necessity of external control commands through any remote.
              Any robot is considered as a system. A good system should adopt with external environment with the use of sensors. Sensors provide information of external world to our system. To process the signal which is provided by our sensor, some processors are needed. In this case we can take help of micro-controller to process the signal. So another component needed is an micro-controller.
              Now the third part is actuator. An actuator is a thing on our system, which actuates the response given by micro-controller through driver. I will come to driver part little later. An actuator may be a DC motor in a particular case for an autonomous robot system.

The basic components that We had used for the preparation of this autonomous system are ->

1. A 8051 development board.
2. proximity sensor (Rx- Tx pair) TCRT-5000 or you can use IR-LED + photo-diode pair.
3. Motor driver IC (IC L293D).
4. DC motor (Toy motor 6v).
5. A battery (11.4V 1400mAH)
6. wheel (Qty-2) +  caster wheel(Qty-1).
7. Polycarbon sheets as a chassis

You can use other materials also. There is a lot of scope for selection of materials for Microcontroller development board (Arduino,  Raspberry pi, & much more ).
